Free ISM Books

We are pleased to make two short introductory books available as free downloads through IndependentSacramental.org.

Both books are offered freely for personal, educational, and pastoral use. We hope they can serve seekers, clergy, communities, discussion groups, and anyone who wants to understand the Independent Catholic and Independent Sacramental movements more thoughtfully.

These are only the beginning. We hope to continue developing additional short, accessible resources on topics such as sacramental life, apostolic succession, church authority, healthy communities, liturgy, ministry, and communion across jurisdictions.

Our goal is simple: to provide thoughtful, Christ-centered resources that help people learn, ask better questions, and grow in faith.

We invite you to download, read, share, and explore.

What Is Independent Catholicism?
A Brief Guide to the Independent Catholic and Independent Sacramental Movement offers a welcoming introduction for seekers, newcomers, and anyone curious about sacramental Christianity beyond larger church structures. It explores what Independent Catholicism is, where it came from, what many Independent Catholics believe, why the sacraments matter, and what someone might experience in an Independent Catholic community.

Is Independent Catholicism Faithful? asks a different question. It takes seriously concerns about authority, obedience, communion, conscience, and separation from historic churches. Rather than offering an easy defense, it invites readers to consider what Christian obedience is ultimately ordered toward and what faithfulness to Jesus Christ requires of churches, leaders, and believers alike.
