Toward an Intradependent Sacramental Movement: A New Facebook Group

The Independent Sacramental Movement is filled with people and communities seeking to live the sacramental life with faithfulness, humility, and love. Across many jurisdictions, ministries, chapels, and small communities, clergy and laity are praying, serving, teaching, celebrating the sacraments, and bearing witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Yet many of us also know the challenges of this movement. Too often, communities labor in isolation. Clergy and laity may feel alone in their ministries. Resources are scattered. Communication between jurisdictions can be limited. Opportunities for shared formation, mutual support, and common witness are often underdeveloped.
For this reason, a new Facebook group has been created: The Intradependent Sacramental Movement. https://www.facebook.com/share/g/18sXiPg1o5/
The word intradependent points to something important. It does not mean surrendering the legitimate independence of particular jurisdictions, communities, or ministries. It does not mean creating another centralized structure. It does not mean forcing everyone into one model, one spirituality, or one way of being sacramental Christians.
Instead, intradependence means recognizing that independence does not have to mean isolation. We can remain distinct while also learning to support one another. We can honor our diversity while also building relationships of trust. We can share resources, encourage formation, open doors of communication, and strengthen our common witness to Christ.
This Facebook group is intended to be a space for clergy, laity, seekers, and communities within the Independent Sacramental Movement and related sacramental traditions. It will offer a place to share resources, discuss pastoral and theological questions, encourage one another in ministry, and build healthier lines of communication across communities and jurisdictions.
Our hope is that this group will not remain only an online discussion space. Over time, we hope it may help create opportunities for online gatherings, prayer, conversation, support, and formation. We also hope it may help inspire future in-person events, such as conferences, retreats, study days, and times of fellowship.
The Independent Sacramental Movement needs more than valid orders, beautiful liturgies, and sincere intentions. We need humility. We need friendship. We need accountability. We need shared formation. We need honest conversation. We need to learn how to strengthen one another for the sake of the Gospel.
At its best, this movement can offer a powerful witness: that sacramental life is not merely about preserving tradition, but about making the healing, reconciling, and life-giving presence of Jesus Christ visible in the world today.
We invite those who share this hope to join the conversation.
May this group become one small step toward deeper communion without coercion, catholicity without centralization, and a stronger common witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ.
